So I'm talking w/ one of my musician friends on Saturday night and she brings up a valid point.
Modern hip-hop kinda sucks.
Mostly in the writing.
Rappers spend too much time focusing on how they're better than everyone else.
I've got too much bling and a really big dick.
Push it up inside your stomach and make you sick.
My gold plated toilet bowl's a limited edition.
Got so much cash I wipe my ass with them.
'Naw mean?
When did this start happening?
People who grew up in the 90's, remember when it had substance?
When there were stories, or messages found in the songs.
When they talked about life's struggles and triumphs, or maybe even love.
Woman, let me count the ways that I love you.
Your ass, your booty, and your boobies too.
I guess that's three or is it technically two?
Girl let's stop this talking let me get up in you.
I don't like having too much freetime, my mind kinda scares me.
But yea, hip-hop isn't a total loss.
There are some great lyricists still out there in the game, and they're greatly appreciated.
